Ford creates the ideal camping mode function for its upcoming electric pickup truck

With its upcoming electric pickup, Ford plans to enhance camping.
Ford submitted a patent application to the German Patent and Trade Mark Office for a “Swiveling Sill for a Vehicle.”

The electric truck described in the patent, which CarBuzz stumbled upon, has rear panels that open like an SUV. Ample room is created between the truck bed and cab when the panels are opened. You can store things in a safe place when they’re closed.

To make it possible, Ford designed a hinge system. Although Ford has a better idea of how to use it, the design makes loading and storing materials like wood or plasterboard easier.

A camping tent that is set up around the truck is described in the patent. To keep the tent strapped down, it is specially made with pockets that fit around the side mirrors of the car. It can also be expanded by adding more straps and pockets.

Ford claims that camping and glamping are both possible with the electric pickup tent. The seats of the car may occasionally fold flat to create a sleeping surface. There may be cooling or heating components in the seats as well.

When it’s dark inside the car, map lights can be used as reading lights. A sensor system that can identify animals or intruders may be included in certain circumstances.

A number of businesses are releasing tents or campers for electric pickups. A three-person tent is available from Rivian’s gear shop. The Cybertruck Basecamp, a fully collapsible truck bed tent attachment, was introduced by Tesla.

However, any electric pickup’s camping experience would be greatly enhanced by a swiveling rear panel.

Ford has recently shown more inventiveness. For the F-150 Lightning frunk, the automaker submitted a patent application to the USPTO for a movable work surface platform. The area could be utilized for tailgating, business, and other purposes.
