Jazz victory matches a historic team milestone for the Celtics

With a commanding 126-97 victory over the Utah Jazz at TD Garden on Friday night, the 2023–24 Celtics made history within the organization. With the win, Boston has now started the season with 17 straight victories at home, matching the team record (17) for the most home victories to start a season. The 1957–58 Celtics also managed to pull off that accomplishment.

The Celtics are also enjoying their third-longest home winning streak in team history, a 24-game run that began on March 8, 2023, at TD Garden during the regular season.

Boston accomplished the remarkable feat quickly on Friday night, restricting the Jazz to 40 points before halftime, a season-low for an opponent this year, and led by as much as 36 points in the first half. Following a Tuesday road setback in Oklahoma City, Jayson Tatum led all five starters in double figures xx, exhibiting an amazing comeback.

After a lot of underwhelming performance at TD Garden during the previous season, when Boston finished with only a.500 record despite making it to the East Finals, the team has made a significant improvement at home this season. Following the team’s most recent home victory, Jaylen Brown considered how things have changed this year.

Brown stated,“I think it’s a new year,One, we’re experienced, another year of experience makes a difference. Two, I think the way our team is constructed, it kind of makes things simple with the addition of Jrue and KP, so that’s credit to us players, I think we’ve improved. I think credit to the front office for constructing a team that kind of fits together, and then credit to the coaching staff for making sure that we know where we’re supposed to be, making sure we see where the reads are supposed to be made and making the game real clear for us. I think the coaching has been excellent this year in making sure that we see the game the way a game should be played.”

The Celtics will play the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night, who are a strong opponent, and have the opportunity to surpass the record for the most consecutive home wins (18). In their only other head-to-head match of the season, Boston was defeated by Minnesota back in November. But the Celtics will face a fatigued Wolves team, having just returned from a four-game road trip that began on Tuesday with a road game in Orlando.
