Google modifies the Pixel’s microphone icon’s functionality

One of the greatest Pixel models ever is the Pixel 2 XL, which is warmly remembered. Using the phone’s Active Edge function, which allows you to squeeze the sides of the bottom half of the device, you can call up Google Assistant. Since most Pixel users could still access the microphone icon through the search bar at the bottom of the Pixel Launcher, the removal of that feature wasn’t too difficult for them. But that access to Google Assistant is being revoked by Google.

In the Pixel Launcher’s search bar, you will now see search results tailored to your queries when you press on the microphone icon, according to 9to5Google. Links to websites are included in search results, which are made to promptly respond to your queries. Instead of using internet links to answer your questions and execute your chores, Google Assistant conducts conversations with you. Google previously made this modification to the microphone symbol on the Pixel Launcher’s search bar earlier this year but flipped back as though it never happened until now.

Google changed the function of the microphone icon on the Pixel Launcher’s search bar such that tapping it now opens Google Search instead of Google Assistant.
Now, when you tap the microphone icon on the Pixel Launcher, Google Search appears instead of Google Assistant.

On your Pixel, you may launch Google Assistant in several ways, like by pressing the Assistant icon on the home screen. If your Pixel or Android phone does not come with the Google Assistant app pre-installed, you may download it from the Play Store by clicking this link and following the instructions. You may also access Google Assistant by saying “Hey Google” which can be set up on your Pixel by navigating to Settings > Apps > Assistant > Hey Google & Voice Match. Verify that Voice Match and Hey Google are turned on.

Google Assistant may also be accessed on your Pixel by long-pressing the power button, which is located on the top right corner of the device. Additionally, you can now utilize the microphone on the search bar by tapping the microphone symbol or by opening the Google app and using the microphone on the search bar of the app if you’re using a Pixel.

Even iOS users can pick between Google Search and Google Assistant. You can use this App Store listing to install the Google Assistant app for iOS. Clicking this link will launch the App Store where you may install the Google app. When it comes to answering queries, Google Assistant is better than Siri, so one of the first things I do when I acquire a new iPhone is install the Google Assistant app.
