A unique camera enhancement is included in iOS 17.2 for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max

We’re learning more about the new features that the iPhone will get with Apple’s iOS 17.2 update as it gets closer to release. And one of them is expected to enhance the photographic capabilities of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

“Improved Telephoto camera focusing speed when capturing small faraway objects on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max” is one of the features listed in the iOS 17.2 release notes. The feature, which Apple had not previously disclosed, will enable the camera to focus on distant objects more quickly, which will facilitate the capture of high-quality telephoto shots.

With iOS 17.2, there will be more camera improvements. Users of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will be able to record spatial video with the updated software, which will be compatible with Apple’s upcoming Apple Vision Pro headset. Although that won’t mean much right now, given that the headset is anticipated to launch in early 2024, it might prove to be a crucial feature for some users in the near future.

The launch of Journal, a brand-new integrated iOS app that lets you maintain a journal from your device, will also be made possible by Apple’s new software. Many useful features are included in Apple’s Journal, such as iCloud Sync for syncing notes between devices and bookmarks and filters for quickly locating content you’ve previously written about. Both Touch ID and Face ID can be used to lock journals, as the company stated in their release notes.

Along with enhanced security in Messages, iOS 17.2 also supports Qi2 wireless charging for iPhone 14 and iPhone 13 models. Collaborative playlists in Music are one feature that will not be included; according to reports, Apple removed the feature from iOS 17.2 due to abuse and spam concerns.

Developers are currently working on a release candidate, which typically indicates a full release is coming soon. The update should arrive by the end of next week, at the latest. When it does, all you have to do is download the update to your iPhone by going to Settings and selecting General -> Software Update.
