A New Captain Marvel Featurette Proposes a Crash Course in the Skrulls

Skrulls are a key piece of the Marvel universe, set to formally make their wide screen debut in Captain Marvel. Be that as it may, except if you’re a funnies buff, they’re still somewhat of a puzzle.

Fortunately, this new featurette, first uncovered by Entertainment Weekly, sparkles a more brilliant light on the Kree versus Skrulls war, and what these baddies are doing here on Earth.

In this most recent Captain Marvel featurette, stars Brie Larson and Gemma Chan jump into their jobs as individuals from the Starforce, a group of Kree “heroes, warrior heroes,” as Carol Danvers likes to say it. For a considerable length of time, they’ve been at war with the Skrulls, a race of shape-moving outsiders who’ve come to Earth looking for, well, something. We don’t have the foggiest idea what precisely. All we know is Captain Marvel needs to prevent them from getting it. In any case, since the Skrulls can truly be anybody, that makes the job challenging.

“Carol knows the Skrulls have infiltrated Earth, and it kind of creates a sense of paranoia,” according to Captain Marvel co-director Anna Boden. “The Skrulls are after something, and part of the mystery of the movie is Carol trying to figure out what they’re after and getting it before they do.”
