One of Amazon’s Top 5 New Series Debuts Ever is “Mr. & Mrs. Smith”

After its February 2 premiere, the eight-episode series ranked first on Prime Video in more than 130 countries. In terms of overall viewers in the United States, it is currently among the Top 5 new series launches ever for Amazon.

Like usual, Amazon doesn’t provide precise viewership statistics. More data will probably be accessible through Nielsen’s streaming charts the following month.

The fact that Amazon is emphasizing U.S. viewership in particular is crucial because Nielsen gauges viewership within that country. The streamer has frequently chosen in the past to encourage worldwide viewership, which is far more difficult to measure without access to confidential information from the business.

As a result, it is anticipated that the series will appear on those rankings, particularly considering that it has an edge in terms of viewing time during those initial weeks due to the simultaneous release of all eight episodes.

Starring as two lonely strangers in Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Donald Glover and Maya Erskine accept positions at an enigmatic spy outfit that promises them a glittering life of espionage, luxury, global travel, and a dream Manhattan brownstone. The drawback? Mr. and Mrs. John Smith and Jane Smith are new identities in an arranged marriage.

Now married, John and Jane face a new marital milestone each week in addition to navigating a dangerous mission. When they start to have genuine affection for one another, their convoluted cover narrative gets even more convoluted. Which is riskier, marriage or espionage?

Alexander Skarsgård, Sharon Horgan, Ron Perlman, Billy Campbell, Úrsula Corberó, Paul Dano, Michaela Coel, John Turturro, Parker Posey, and Wagner Moura are among the guest cast members.

Donald Glover and Francesca Sloane conceived the series. In addition, Francesca Sloane runs the show. Mr. & Mrs. Smith is a co-production between New Regency and Amazon MGM Studios. Yariv Milchan of New Regency is executive producing the series, which is a remake of the 2005 movie.
