What makes you stand out from others in your field?
I did what people in my industry said was impossible and found a way to make it work. But I tried to do what everyone else in my industry was doing, and that didn’t work out, and I had nothing to lose by doing things differently.
How have you grown as you work on building your business?
I’ve learned the power of ignoring people who don’t see the value in my work. Whenever people in my industry tell me I’m doing something wrong, I usually take it as a sign I’m on the right track. It’s not that I’m not humble. I just know there’s market value in going against the grain.
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
Never close your mind to any possibilities. It only takes one idea to transform an entire business, and you’ll never get to that point if you focus so much on other people saying “no” that you forget to listen to what you feel makes sense.
