Paula Velasquez Talks Halloween Traditions

It’s spooky season and we caught up with actress Paula Velasquez to talk about some of her favorite Halloween traditions and new thriller film ‘Good Girls Get Fed.’

Hey Paula! Can you introduce yourself to our readers?

Hello! My full name is Paula Sofia Velasquez Faria, but everyone knows me as Pau Velasquez. I was born in Venezuela, and I moved to Mexico with my family when I was seven. As a child, I was very creative, spontaneous and outgoing and that made me get into dancing and acting. I am a very passionate person and growing up with people that loved the art side of things helped me be more in love with acting. I am a very sensitive and emotional human being, that is one of the main reasons why I love acting so much, it helps you to put all of that intensity of emotions in your craft and it is very therapeutic and relieving at the same time.

As we head into the season of all thing’s horror, can you tell us about some of your favorite things to do for Halloween?

I love trick or treating! It reminds me so much of my childhood and taking my little brother out on Halloween so he could go get candy. Love dressing up and it is interesting because it reminds me of acting too. You dress up to “be” a certain character and it is so much fun. I believe Halloween is a day where people get to be kids again and not being judged about it.

What are some of the traditions in your family?

Since I was a kid, my parents used to dress me up in really elaborate and fun costumes to take me trick or treating. They used to dress me and my little brother with matching costumes and we would love to just be out with our parents and other friends having fun and playing around with our characters or whatever we were dresses up as. My family is Hispanic as well, so we tend to mix Halloween with Dia de Los Muertos and it is a beautiful tradition because my mom would set up an altar with all of the members of the family that are no longer with us, and it would be so beautiful decorating the altar with her. My mom has always loved Halloween and Dia de Los Muertos so for her combining both of them was the perfect mix.

Have you planned out your Halloween costume for this year?

Yes, I have! I always plan about three different Halloween looks because I love it so much! I have planned to dress up with my best friends as the Winx because we used love them so much when we were younger! Also, I will be Selena which I am very excited about because she is an icon. I still have to plan two more outfits, but I am very excited!

What is your favorite movie to watch over Halloween?

Scream has always been my go-to movie to watch over Halloween! I have always loved it so much and I could re watch it anytime but during Halloween is the best time to do it.

We read that you love psychological thrillers have you watched anything good recently?

Definitely! I just watched ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ and it definitely left me thinking a lot and was so crazy to watch. They did such an amazing job with the cinematography because it makes you feel exactly how the character is thinking and viewing certain things.

Tell us about your new horror-thriller film ‘Good Girls Get Fed’ and character?

‘Good Girls Get Fed’ is a psychological thriller-drama that expresses how women are treated and viewed in society. It is directed a written by a Kelly Lou Dennis and it is a very powerful statement that needs to be said. It is a very passionate short film that touches upon a very delicate subject that needs to be talked about.

What are you most looking forward to next?

I am looking forward to work in more psychological thrillers and dramas. I am very excited for ‘Good Girls Get Fed’ and my first feature fil ‘This Is Water’ to be released!
