New Instagram ‘Notes’ Feature Is a Snapchat/Twitter Frankenstein

An upcoming text-based Instagram feature that no one requested gives off an impression of getting a wider rollout. The feature allegedly permits clients to post disappearing messages to followers, who can then reply.

New off the impact points of TikTok uncovering “Now,” which is improperly demonstrated after the juggernaut BeReal, apparently the cannibalism of social media platforms goes on as Instagram starts a wider rollout of a new feature. In a report from XDA Developers, the social media app is proceeding to mess with a text-based feature that TechCrunch originally covered this previous June. The at present unnamed feature will permit clients to leave notes for their followers in the app’s messaging tab.

Instagram didn’t immediately return Gizmodo’s request for comment, the notes will probably be situated right above a user’s direct message inbox. Followers won’t be notified when you leave a note, however the note will be visible to them for 24 hours before it disappears. Clients that post notes can pick to share their message to the entirety of their followers or only those on their “Close friends” list, and followers can reply to a note by means of direct message by tapping on it.

All in all, this new feature is a more text-forward version of Instagram Stories. That makes one wonder of why this is essential in any case since, on first look, it shares every one of the features that Stories has, less the camera integration, filters, stickers, and music.

Instagram has been in a transient state over the past few months, with an entire host of features either carrying out, being tested, or downsizing. Prominently, Instagram divulged its BeReal copycat called “Dual,” which permits clients to post front and back camera photographs at once on Stories while removing the shopping tab from the home feed.
